Want to be part of Canta for 2027? This is your chance to be a part of the best student media here in Ōtautahi, Christchurch!
The positions available for 2027 are:
Managing Editor (20 hours p/w)
This role overseas the entire Canta brand and all avenues of Canta (print and digital)
You manage the Canta team, are responsible for getting the magazine to print and making sure Canta has a great digital presence
You also keep Canta up-to-date with what UC students to see from student media outlet
Print Editor (15 hours p/w)
Second in charge under the Managing Editor.
Responsible for looking after the Canta feature writers, gathering written content and pre-editing content before it reaches the Managing Editor.
Designer (15 hours p/w)
Responsible for all Canta design, including magazines, online and branding.
Digital Editor (10 hours p/w)
Responsible for the Canta website and uploading content.
Responsible for setting the content direction for video, audio, social media and the Canta website
Responsible for overlooking the Canta social media channels including Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
Audio Editor (5 hours p/w)
Responsible for running Canta’s RDU radio show
You get to create audio and video podcasts for the Canta Spotify
News Editor (10 hours p/w)
Responsible for producing news content for Canta, about issues relevant to students, and to keep students up to date.
You also get to make video News content during term time!
Video & Digital Creator (5 hours p/w)
Heard about Flat Famous on TT or seen the awesome videos Canta makes? That’s this role! The Video & Digital Creator is responsible for helping both the digital and audio editors.
This includes working on social media, digital channels, and videos.
Feature Writers x3 (5 hours p/w)
Responsible for producing written content for the magazine and the Canta website.
Producing a wide range of writing on a variety of topics for Canta.
Te Ao Māori Writer (5 hours p/w)
Responsible for producing written content for the magazine and Canta website that relates to Māori viewpoints and issues.
The following roles are fixed term and have a start date of January 2027 and end in October 2027:

The following roles are term-time only, with a start date of 15th February 2027 and end in October 2027:
